Every year, LV Wayne holds special events such as the Reading Rally, a Wine Tasting, a Student/Tutor Recognition Ceremony, and ongoing events such as Sponsor-a-Student and Tutor Workshops. In order to provide the best quality at the lowest possible cost, volunteers with a wide range of expertise are invited to help in everything from the design to the execution of these events. Those people who like to participate in one-time events, annual events, or with minimal time commitment and maximum flexibility, might be interested in working on Special Events.

While there is no narrow range of skills or abilities people need to become an Events Volunteer, generally speaking, people should like working with others and be able to present a positive image. A larger number of volunteers is always needed for the execution of the event than at any other stage, so those who enjoy meeting people and, to some extent, feel capable of representing LV Wayne might excel at this position, although there are plenty of people needed to create mailing labels, stuff envelopes, make phone calls, etc.

In the end, if every resident who wishes to support literacy does what s/he enjoys while receiving personal satisfaction, LV Wayne will make significan progress towards increasing literacy levels in Wayne County.
